nice price deal !!! after three releases of darkened house, proto rave and weird techno, hollands boutique purple maze label takes a detour into funky disco territory with prime numbers and firecracker craftsman fudge fingas at the helm. his amaranthine labyrinth ep is lively, bright and sugary, but still features plenty of complex analogue machinery to get you dancing.eyes on the prize opens proceedings with some distant bongos, glassy percussion and punchy kick drums. its a jostling track with insistent claps running right through it that really comes alive when some sweeping chords bring irresistible colour and funk.

we are very pleased to welcome bleak on deeply rooted house for his second release on the label, a pure techno 4 track ep and one of the strongest deeply rooted so far! dj deep:i have been very impressed with bleaks talent and how he can combine different styles of techno and still produce very personal music. each track, in my opinion, has a life of its own, it starts in a certain way, and takes you to different places. the arrangements are very subtle, sometimes hypnotic, very intense and emotional, the way the drums evolve and drive the tracks, or how deep chords apear in the back ground taking the track to a differrent territory etc.i hope youll like this 12inch as much as i do!

for the next outnl we prepared a package with 2 of our favorite artists of the moment. on the a side we have a track by glaswegian james johnston who has had an immense year with releases on labels such as fine art, under the shade and boogie originals. we are very pleased that james decided to release his deep burning that was now on outernational. on the b side we find ben la desh. who returns to outernerational with the breezy but ferm drug carrier. while his previous release doctor bills is still making its round through the clubs and podcasts. we are sure drug carrier will even turn more heads.

this monterous techno anthem is oscillating between n.cuer usual minimal style and physical records fearsome atmosphear, develloping with a huge leads and squeaky sounds, undoubtinglys been prepared to set fire on the floor. as for b side, we get two remixes made by the label co-owners and main artist mik zif and midwooder. the first is drilling deeper into darkness with a proper physical techno rave style rmx. when the second is digging deeper into minimal techno, bringing the original tunes a bit more of deepness, while still keeping it ultra dancefloor efficient. definitely about to make a lot of noise in the techno scene this year and further, overload destruction and its remixes appears to be unmissable titles for any minimal and techno sets!

we are very proud and honered to release this ep by function aka dave sumner from sandwell district. one of technos true underground heroes, function (dave sumner) has been djing and making music for over 15 years. hailing from new york, he was seduced by techno music when jeff mills held a residency (as well as his own first) at the limelight in the early 90s. dave started to produce music and from the mid-90s onwards, put out music on damon wilds synewave and his own infrastructure imprint. together with regis (karl o connor) he worked as portion reform, putting out uncompromising music on downwards and becoming the only non-birmingham producer to release on the label. in 2008 dave moved to berlin, still working with regis, and now silent servant (john mendez), put his focus on the acclaimed sandwell district imprint. obsessed is a supper powerfull floating track for the dancefloor, a typical function production. this ep also contains remixes from substance and scb aka scuba, both peak-time tracks.

limited reissue of a very rare and highly in-demand 1986 12 inch from indian ocean, alias of late great disco legend and sleeping bag founder arthur russell. although russells original version on side a is fantastic in itself, the stunning abstract walter gibbons mix on side b is where its all at. with irrepressible madcap gibbons at the helm, the track mutates into a strangely subversive dancefloor odyssey way ahead of its time which still sounds futuristic today. with a raw sparse experimental sound, this progressive sonic journey rolls along for over 10 minutes pulsating with a jazz-influenced interplay of funk-heavy bongos, stabbing synths, off-the-wall vocals and russells trademark cello. one of the great moments to come out of the vibrant art/disco not disco crossover scene of 80s new york - dont miss your chance to bag a vinyl copy of this obscure gem.

continuing motechs 10 year celebrations and a kick-ass party at londos fabric last month, dj 3000 now presents 10 years of motech (the remixes) part 2 ep ahead of the full length remix cd due this summer. part 1 already saw both dj 3000 and sascha sonido take on gerald mitchells belly dancer from mt-008. now uk techno legend, mark broom takes a brief break from his beardman imprint to add this killer interpretation for an impressive opener. next up we turn to goodlifes kiko who doesnt disappoint with his driving new rendition of dj 3000s defiant (mt-015), toughening up the original but still maintaining its funk-fuelled roots. the rest of the ep features a remix a track taken from franki juncas 2011 album invisible moods. firstly,ill be around gets the remix treatment from detroits luke hess, whose releases have appeared on the likes of echocord, kontra-musik and the mighty planet-e delivers a moodier take on things, with deep pads and a grooving beat.

2012 - we are milleniumized neo, more than ever before. 1993, when techno was all over the place, german experts tommi eckart (at that time not 2raumwohnung yet) and ralf hertwig (at that time not palais schaumburg anymore) released a track, which found its way out there as a legendary underground-club classic in germany,england, benelux and france: the beat just goes straight on and on. its been sold out for years, but djs still play it in the clubs and it never lost its beat. now in 2012, almost 20 years later, the vinyl reissue being released, including the original cut and a remix by matthew styles & tobi neumann. it just goes on and on, enjoy!

this is the debut vinyl release from up & coming producer jim morton. the 12 inch presents two different flavours of the jungle sound. the a side is nyc-dub, a heavy duty track with plenty of pace and energy. an atmospheric vibe is present but the production still carries enough weight with the beats and sub to work the dance floor. think ray keith meets breakage!
on side b, >underwater chord< is again a jungle bass tune but on a different vibe. it is a brighter sounding track, due to the chords and sounds used, which wouldnt be out of place in a liquid style production. with both tracks there is a tip of the cap towards the old skool sound.

martin brodins second single from the forthcoming album which is due for june 2012. it follows the successful badabing which featured diskjokke as remixer. strings attack is all about the strings for disco. ok,now you may think he gone all cheesy here, but that’s totally wrong.it still have the funkyness and groove it needs to be a full-fledged disco anthem in our ears. and we invited two of the most prolific producers out there to make this a rock solid release. switzerlands finest, headman (robi insinna), who we all know from his own relish label and releases on gomma. he turn the original to an uber-cool bass-laden track and makes it a bit more in-your-face to speak, while the original is a bit more freestyle. second out is spanish born ilya santana with his funky mellow take. its a perfect remix for those beach parties we all love.

what is techno is the first single to be taken from techlegend in the makin florian meindls long awaited debut album waves (1-12)inch, due for release soon on his very own flash recordings. what is it techno? what is house? good question and its the doubt that drives you on the dancefloor. florians original is perfectly crafted deep groovy tech. a delicate melody belies the raw power, generated here by the growling bass and drum line. ramping up the filth factor and still riding high from the release of their second city ep are boys noizes, shadow dancer. matching detroit synths with sinister bubbling acid the manchester duo create a beast of a mix that also displays an equal amount of beauty.

ander-traxx is a fresh label operating out of glasgow with the intent of releasing righteous underground house, and although mainly a platform for the labels founder alex-ander to showcase his own productions, ander-traxxs remit also includes the presentation of unknown talent for future releases. for this first release, alex steps up to the plate to deliver because of me, followed by 3 remixes from artists born and raised in glasgow. the original kicks things off with its intro of glacial pads and jittery hats, before quickly delving into a seriousely deep groove brimming with melodic layers. although because of me gives a strong nod to the recent developements of producers like omar s and kyle hall, it undoubtedly has the hallmarks of an alex-ander production, his unique arrangements coming to the forefront while still complimenting the crisp percussion that drives the track forward. carlos nilmmns (co founder of the formidable solab production unit) mix is a much more off-kilter and submerged affair. nilmmns plays down the epic quality of the original and adds chugging rhythmics and sweetcured piano work for a lesson in divine repetition. mesumas feedback mix goes in for the dancefloor attack, not surprising for a gentleman whos previous work has seen releases on hardgroove and seventh sign. rolling toms and a booming kick meet aquatic vocal samples and spectral harmonicas, and will still please those partial to deeper sounds. last up to give because of me the rework treatment is meschi (lunar disko, lux, snuff traxx), who mixes his chicago influenced analogue stylings perfectly with the source material. stripped down crescendos build up to a euphoric drop, and meschis elated melodies bring another twist to this excercise in deep funk. because of me is one of those rare e.ps that works just as well in a non-club enviroment as it does on the dancefloor. with this warning shot, alex-ander will surely be capturing the ears of many in 2012 and beyond.

part 2/3! deep house – uh killer?! dear gorge just like we know him. hardly anyone puts so much energy into a yet so low key appearing track and this is what we love him for. gorge was a history witness for our biggest light installation and the most oppulent feast, as is his right. certified ass-shaking tune with a joyous organ going hand in hand with a female vocal. there is no more to say about this track as it speaks for itself. reminiscing igors 10 minute intro in combat gear at the treibgut deluxe. some push did jonas put into this few minute collaboration track with mz sunday luv. it has to be loud, it has to run – it has to take its place on this compilation. homebased in frankfurt jonas was so fond of hannover at a time that he almost moved north. but we could not afford the hotel room for such a long time. deep house making you get rid of your jacket and shake your hips together. get yourself a drink at the bar and head for the dancefloor. nicely smooth this track is driving you into the night. the only night we actually had champagne and still could all make it to the train to hamburg in the morning.

the situation crew have paid their dues with some of the better disco edits to surface in recent times - a particularly slick and slippery revision of a quantic standard for disco deviance still gets rotation from those in the know. its nice to see the slightly elusive five valley crew return to the art of the twelve inch with something a bit more substantial in form of a new label situationism and some original material for the debut . barcelona is presented in three different danceable situations (geddit) with the disco version a particular highlight. the excellent psychemagik are also called on to remix the track in their own inimitable somewhere between house and disco style

the sccucci manucci label has done a fine job of handpicking artists on the rise for their releases to date, collaring the likes of casino times, francis inferno orchestra and toomydisco as well as the odd established name like jacques renault. the labels fourth release forza quattro is still grounded in the disco/house sensibility that has served them so well, though the presence of waze & oddysey demonstrates the sccucci a & r team are willing to deviate. the elusive us pair are in the midst of a hot patch right now with releases already burning on body work and southern fried and plenty more due over the coming months, so their presence here is a real coup. i cant hear you sounds vaguely like a extra bouncy cover of the classic rip groove and definitely ranks alongside their output to date. alongside this the white vinyl ep has tempo traversing contributions from fil lavin, sellouts and deadly sins, with the latters slow and chuggy -dont you know- a particular highlight

for a short period in 1981 and with brand-new equipment such as roland 808, sh 101, gr 500, we made some 8-track just for fun jam tapes. mainly just to experiment for our own pleasure. from those sessions, only white horse made it to a final treatment. the rest of the material was left behind, as our record company at the time found it too different. after white horse being a track indeed defining our sound, we thought it would be interesting to dig out left-overs to fulfill a documentation of that period - crucial for us at the time. we were still innocent newcomers, without actually knowing to be creating a new sound! recently, that left-over material was transferred from analogue to digital and, to stay as true as possible to original intentions, we only added vocals, bass and drumbeats ahead of a final mix. we hope that you will enjoy listening to it. good vibes from laid back copenhagen 2012.

berlin based daniel dexter is part of the new breed of producers showing us why theres still mileage in the good old house groove. his cultured, expressive productions have the mark of a true talent and mr. dexter has only just begun. the acid-revival lives on.storm is a heavy, late night tale of sax, e-piano and stomping synth basslines. growing from a filtered intro, its song like structure drives us into true reckless abandon - perfect for the darker moments of the night, but still oozy with funk and soul. the thick, percussive opening bars of there will be jazz lead to a focus on one of dexters chosen weapons - more jazzy saxophone samples and synthesized strings lift us into a musical crescendo of tension, yet theres a laid back, new york vibe to the track, which will no doubt get plenty of plays this summer. the mysterious murder is a darker affair, shrouded in rave-era stabs and a real pushing vibe. its clear that daniel is a dextrous (no pun intended) producer with plenty of tricks up his sleeve

i know u combines tribal rhythms, pounding bass, insistent synth stabs, some distressed dialogue and a insanely large crash in the most maniacal way imaginable for what has to be one of the most devastating and original tunes for a very long time. sparse and spacious but yet rhythmical and energetic, lxc manages the ultimate arrangement balancing act here. the intensity increases gradually as the track progresses, culminating in an all-out tribal war ! a modern day jungle masterpiece from one of the most under-estimated producers around. on the flip, senses finally unleashes a track that decimated the very first technicality all-nighter back in 2004. 8 years later and that power is still very much in evidence! everybody want go heaven. nobody want dead – taking influence from the 1990 film marked for death, senses builds a dense vibe here, thick with imminent danger. rolling drums soon give way to a energetic ride-heavy break and pounding sub-bass hits. drum rolls drop and mentasms screech before the storm begins to subside half way through. the respite is brief however and after a complete silence the track reassembles, beginning with some insane slow to fast mentasm pitching which continues as a dark, slick reece begins to build with mysterious atmospherics. the tension is cut by the return of the drums – rolling along at first, before the mentasms and subs hit hard again, signaling a percussive onslaught! jungle just got catapulted into 2012.

its been a while since we have seen a release from dfrnt for on the edge, but im proud to announce, the wait is finally over! this ep provides us with an abundance of different flavours, but still retains the genius sound that is dfrnt at the very core of every tune. let me first draw to your attention to >the big freeze<. its a drum and bass track that has been moulded like a true pro. it sounds like dfrnt has been producing d+b for a long time with the finishes on this track, but believe its one of his earlier efforts. its a refreshing bpm for his take on electronic music and hope to hear more of the same from dfrnt soon. then dfrnt shows us what he is all about when he goes all out 4x4. a dirty, gritty techno roller (with a skip) that will blow your socks off! love the production on this one. then we have >monday morning<. this does exactly what it says on the tin, just the type of tune you need to bring you down after a heavy weekend. as though that wasnt enough, there is a 170 remix from man of the moment, indigo! support comes from: hatti vatti, synkro, versa, mary ann hobbs, kissy sell out, fused forces, loxy, dj rum, 501 and truth to name a few.

the title track on tychos long-awaited dive lp is just that — a ripple effect record that sounds like three songs in one, as if sound/graphic designer scott hansen just discovered progrock and decided to apply its winding passages to his own singular blend of sinewy synths and bleached beats. its also the first tycho song to feature a prominent guest musician, guitarist zac brown, in this case, who paints outside the lines of hansens halcyon hooks with restless rhythms and monorail-like riffs. the >dive< single fleshes things out even further, as keep shelly in athens and memoryhouse — both rising underground artists in their own right — cut hansens cloud-scraping composition in half and slow his cruise control chords down to a crawl. the misty vocal melodies are still there, but they are now floating through an embryonic assembly of jittery cicadas, rusty gears, and lean loops that are both welcoming and a bit woozy. the sonic equivalent of staring at the sun for too long, really, or two sides of the same cracked mirror.

edits may be dead, but just when your elitist attitude comes to a head and you think you re on top of your game, there will always be someone deeper, faster and still motivated enough to rekindle your digging desires. where blackdisco volume 10 saw the return of lovefingers and nitedog, volume xi pushes forward into new territory (and with a new aesthetic) by welcoming a group of three deep diggers who shun musical trends and their inherent fakers. dea, albion & spacelex combine their vinyl-mining efforts to unearth some real diamonds from the rough. deas cut malaka is a floater with a funky sailboat vibe, while his complimentary cut taubat takes the tired jungle disco vibe to new level with its triumphant synth-led chorus, an absolute stunner that could be extended for 20 minutes. on the flip, albion spoons water over the coals, steaming up the joint with an uptempo percussion bomb as if santana had a disco secret, and spacelex rides us out with a sexy rock groove complete with mysterious male voiceover, almost as if someone lowered the volume to whisper in your ear.

souvenir is proud to present its 44th ep from a duo of frankfurts favourite sons, chris wood and carsten meat schuchmann. both chris and carsten have come up through frankfurts music scene, chris with his long time residency at the infamous monza club and carsten having started the citys premier record shop freebase, still going strong 18years later. trained as a studio engineer, chris cut his chops under the wise wings of pascal feos and joinedforces with meat, who held residencies at cocoon and robert johnson. last year they dropped the mighty triple s on souvenir, which destroyed dance floors as far afield as sao paolo to ibiza.
